Paio always looks for ulterior motives in kind behavior and will never be surprised by someone breaking a promise.
BACKGROUND:
A genetically rare red-skinned ("Lethan") Twi'lek, she was taken from her home and sold into slavery to be trained as a dancer. Her owner settled on Susevfi, and by the age of 12 she made her escape, with the help of a Jensaarai Defender who recognized her potential during a dinner party at her master's mansion.
Paio excels at dance. It is something she practices entirely for herself, striving for perfection in each movement. If it distracts those who might otherwise be attacking her or attempting to otherwise misuse her, all the better.
Her skill at dance served her well in Jensaarai combat training. She rapidly took a place in the highest ranks of the Apprentices, and it was acknowledged by many that she was on the fast track to Defender rank.
Her posting to Yavin, in fact, is the final test of her worth before being confirmed as a Defender, as implied by the "blank," uncustomized suit of armor she was given before leaving. During her time at Yavin, she will gradually customize it until it reflects her true soul as a Jensaarai.
